CHEYENNE, WY – The Wyoming Congressional Award Council (WCAC) invites medalists, alumni, friends, and members of the community statewide to join in the nonprofit’s first-ever “Give Back to WCAC” event on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
This date is no coincidence; October 8th marks the day WCAC officially became a council in 1983, making this year as its 42nd birthday.
To celebrate more than four decades of empowering Wyoming youth as they pursue The Congressional Award, WCAC is asking the community to give back in a way that secures opportunities for the next generation.
“If every medalist, current and past, donated their $25 registration fee, we would raise over $25,000,” said WCAC Executive Director Sarah Compton. “These gifts will help us continue to mentor, celebrate, and inspire young people across Wyoming to dream big and achieve more.”
“Give Back to WCAC” is a chance for alumni, families, and community members to come together, reflect on the impact the program has had statewide, and help ensure that impact continues for years to come.
“Funding for the Wyoming Congressional Award Council is crucial,” shared WCAC Emeritus Board Member Kendall (Kendie) Hartman. “The door of the Congressional Award is open to all, and helping bring this opportunity to the young people who don’t understand that the door of the Congressional Award is actually open for them is a gift we can all bring to our state’s young people.”
Donations made on October 8 will, like all donations made to the organization, go directly toward supporting Wyoming youth as they pursue The Congressional Award and pursue goals related to voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and a planned trip or excursion.
