What have you gained by participating in The Congressional Award?
Through this award, I have gained a new perspective on how other parts of my community live. Even though I might not be able to see it, all people are going through some sort of a struggle in life. The little things I do when I volunteer can make people’s day better, like offering to mop at the food pantry for an older lady so she doesn’t have to exert too much energy, or taking out the trash so people don’t have to. Even giving the people that use the food pantry a simple “hello” can go such a long way. Overall, I would say that the experience I had with the Congressional Award was really fun and rewarding. I learned a lot and think that this was a learning experience and something that helped me learn about other views on life.
