What have you gained by participating in The Congressional Award?
I have gained a new sense of community, and what it means to be a Wyomingite. As someone from Aurora, Colorado, I was pretty bored and unimpressed when I first moved here because we don’t have many stores, restaurants, activities, or really just anything to do; a drastic change from my childhood. Going on my fifth year of living in Wyoming and my second year being a part of this program has shown me the importance of community. It has taught me how important it is to show up for each other and practice selflessness every day, in every sense of your being. It has shown me that you can gain just as much from being a leader, as being a listener. Earning my Bronze medal has been the learning experience of a lifetime, and I am so excited to advance and continue contributing to my community as I work towards my Silver and Gold medals.
