Communities Invited to Join Wyoming Congressional Award Council’s Statewide Day of Service, Support Youth, on October 8th

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyomingites have an opportunity to give back to our state’s next generation of leaders—as well as their communities—on Thursday, Oct. 8, when the Wyoming Congressional Award Council (WCAC) pairs its second annual “Give Back to WCAC” event with a statewide Day of Service.

In addition to “giving back” through monetary donations, Congressional Award medalists, alumni, families, friends and community members are invited to join WCAC board members in donating their time and talents to Day of Service events around Wyoming.

“Giving back is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the communities that make Wyoming home,” said WCAC board member Affie Ellis, principal at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. “It feels good to lend time and talent to help your community.”

Anyone is welcome to participate in the Day of Service, whether or not they have been involved with The Congressional Award.

“In the spirit of the The Congressional Award program, we welcome everyone who’s interested in improving their community and creating a positive impact to join us,” said WCAC Executive Director Sarah Compton.

Times and locations for each event are listed at wycongressionalaward.org/events.

On average, 100 Wyoming youth per year register for the program. Donations made on October 8th, like all donations to WCAC, directly go to supporting newly registered medalists and about 50 medalists who earn their Congressional Award medals.

This year’s “Give Back to WCAC” donation goal is $10,000, which will cover the cost of the State Medal Ceremony—the only one in the nation—on April 25, 2027, in Cheyenne.
